Social Skills Group
Social skills are taught using the principles of ABA and errorless learning. Children will get the support they need to have meaningful social exchanges with other children. Using the errorless approach will help will help create a positive environment and build a child’s self-esteem. There are many components of social skills and we create individualized objectives for each child. Objectives may include and are not limited to; responding to peers, initiating interactions with peers, cooperative play, turn taking, imitating peers, greetings, following instructions given by peers, allowing change in play, eye contact with peers, conversation with peers and many others. Each child will receive goals for the social skills class based on their assessment. The level of support your child will need will also be determined at the time of the assessment. Staff to child ratio may be 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 based on each individual child’s needs.
